[Hiring] Project Lead - Embedded Software / IoT @Orion Innovation

Role Description

We are looking for a Project Lead with strong past technical experience in Embedded Software and IoT systems. This role is focused on leading delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring that technical decisions are properly aligned with project goals.

Responsibilities:

• Project & Delivery Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day project execution for embedded / IoT software initiatives.
  • Coordinate work across Embedded Software, Hardware, Cloud, Mobile, QA, and Product teams.
  • Track progress, commitments, blockers, and delivery predictability.
  • Ensure clear ownership, communication, and accountability across teams.
  • Support roadmap planning, release planning, and integration milestones.
• Technical Coordination
  • Use prior embedded software experience to understand technical scope, risks, and dependencies.
  • Facilitate technical discussions between engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Support decisions related to embedded architecture, connectivity, integration, and platform reuse.
  • Help identify technical debt, integration risks, and delivery-impacting issues early.
  • Ensure proper alignment between requirements, implementation, testing, and validation.
• Requirements & Stakeholder Management
  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Program Management to clarify requirements and priorities.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, testable, and properly tracked.
  • Maintain alignment between business goals and technical execution.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development, with strong background in Embedded Software, IoT, or connected devices.
• Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Project Lead, Engineering Lead, Scrum Master, or Delivery Lead.
• Experience leading cross-functional software delivery.
• Strong Agile/Scrum execution experience.
• Ability to understand technical discussions without needing to perform hands-on development daily.
• Strong communication, planning, risk management, and stakeholder management skills.

Requirements

• Good understanding of embedded systems, such as RTOS/Linux, firmware, drivers, connectivity, or device integration.
• Experience with smart devices, HVAC, consumer electronics, or industrial IoT.
• Knowledge of Wi-Fi, BLE, MQTT, OTA, provisioning, cloud connectivity, or device-to-cloud integration.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Jama, or similar tools.
• Scrum Master or Agile certification.
