Role Description

At HRST, Inc., we're looking for a Project Engineer II who is ready to take ownership of engineering activities, contribute to technical decisions, and play a key role in delivering successful projects for the power generation industry.

This position can work out of any of our office locations: CA, FL, TX, ME, MD, MN, NC.

As a Project Engineer II, you'll serve as a critical link between engineering, project management, customers, and vendors throughout the project lifecycle. You'll coordinate technical activities, evaluate engineering designs, help resolve project challenges, and ensure deliverables meet customer expectations, engineering standards, and project requirements.

What You'll Do

• Own Technical Execution: Coordinate engineering activities for assigned projects, ensuring designs and deliverables meet customer specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
• Solve Engineering Challenges: Evaluate technical issues, make informed engineering decisions, and coordinate design changes throughout project execution.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Product Design, Quality, Technical Services, Sourcing, and fabrication partners to keep projects moving forward.
• Be a Trusted Technical Resource: Serve as a primary technical contact for customers, participating in technical discussions and helping resolve project-related questions.
• Review Engineering Deliverables: Evaluate drawings, technical specifications, and vendor documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Support Vendor and Procurement Activities: Participate in technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, and coordination of equipment and service requirements.
• Drive Project Success: Help align engineering deliverables with project schedules, fabrication activities, and installation requirements.
• Improve How We Work: Identify opportunities to strengthen engineering practices, improve project execution, and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Typically 3–6 years of engineering experience, ideally in power generation, heat recovery, industrial equipment, or related systems.
• Ability to independently coordinate technical activities and manage multiple engineering priorities.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Confidence working with customers, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering quality work.

Requirements

• Experience with heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), boilers, or other industrial power generation equipment.
• Experience supporting industrial equipment supply or engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
• Familiarity with ASME codes and applicable engineering standards.
• Experience coordinating engineering deliverables across multiple disciplines.
• Experience with ERP or project management systems, such as NetSuite.
