Role Description

Join MD Anderson as a Project Director – Cost of Care and help lead institution-wide initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency, reduce the cost of care, and strengthen value across one of the nation’s most complex healthcare organizations. Sponsored by senior quality and value leadership, this highly visible role partners with clinical and administrative leaders to turn strategic priorities into actionable projects that create measurable impact for patients, providers, and the organization.

What’s in it for you? You’ll lead large-scale, cross-functional healthcare initiatives from concept through implementation, working across a highly matrixed environment to bring numerous stakeholders together around shared goals. You’ll independently develop project scopes, work plans, resource plans, budgets, timelines, and outcome measures while identifying risks, removing barriers, and maintaining momentum. Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to measure and communicate the value of your work through the lens of financial ROI, patient outcomes, and organizational efficiency.

You’ll also serve as a trusted strategic partner and communicator to executive leaders, clinicians, and operational teams. You’ll distill complex information into clear, actionable insights, develop executive-level presentations, secure stakeholder buy-in, and help guide the strategic operations of the Cost of Care Committee. This is an opportunity to gain broad institutional visibility while helping shape how value is delivered across a large, complex health system.

The ideal candidate brings a strong healthcare or health-system project management and leadership background, with experience navigating large, complex organizations. Experience in healthcare economics, data analytics, value-based care arrangements, or clinical performance improvement is highly desirable and provides an opportunity to apply specialized expertise to meaningful institutional challenges.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Data Analytics, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or related field
• Preferred: Professional certification (PMP, CAPM, PPM, CMP, or equivalent)

Requirements

• Required: 6 years of experience in healthcare performance improvement, consulting, research, or project management
• Required: 4 years of experience in healthcare or research program development and management to include two years of supervisory, lead or project management, with Master's or PhD degree
• May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis
• Preferred: Experience collaborating with clinicians and operational leaders to improve outcomes
• Preferred: Experience managing medium-to-large scale projects in a healthcare setting
• Preferred: Understanding of value-based care, alternative payment models, and health industry trends
• Preferred: Experience with healthcare data analytics and outcome measurement
