[Hiring] Manager of Conservation Programs @Ducks Unlimited, Inc.

Role Description

This role involves managing conservation programs focused on aquatic resource mitigation primarily in Long Island, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Mitigation project delivery and management coordination
• Monitoring in tidal and freshwater settings
• Working with various regulatory partners including Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
• Advancing mitigation projects through all phases of delivery
• Staff oversight and budget management
• Securing wetland restoration projects and permitting
• Performing annual reporting requirements
• Identifying adaptive management needs
• Field work in difficult environmental conditions
• Travel throughout Long Island and occasionally outside the northeast

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
• Minimum 7-10 years of related experience in natural resource management
• Excellent management, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to write mitigation plans and monitoring reports
• Knowledge of state and federal wetland regulations, policies, and laws
• Budget management and expense forecasting skills
• Desired experience in wetland restoration opportunities and implementation
• General familiarity with land protection mechanisms and documents
• Knowledge of coastal ecology, restoration, and management
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented

Requirements

• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours and travel overnight
• Ability to work in inclement weather and with minimal supervision in remote environments
• Always represent Ducks Unlimited in a professional manner

Benefits

• Salary range from $80,000 to $110,000 based on experience and geographic location
