Role Description

Resource Innovations is seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team in Indiana or Kentucky. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer with a strong background in C&I custom and energy management DSM program engineering to join our dynamic team. As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for providing customers with the support and tools necessary to identify, quantify, and deliver cost-effective energy-efficiency projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports implementation of both prescriptive and custom energy efficiency projects, including energy modeling, economic analysis, and/or simulation to quantify energy impacts of recommendations.
  • Conducts energy analysis for projects at medium to large commercial and industrial facilities to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements.
  • Writes technical reports summarizing results from energy assessments to quantify project economics.
  • Conducts measurement and verification (M&V) site visits to establish facility energy usage patterns and verify installation of energy savings projects.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and assists project stakeholders and participants to help ensure customers maximize the benefits of utility programs.
  • Delivers professional, high-quality services and builds a quick rapport with utility customers.
  • Completes high-quality deliverables that demonstrate technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project budgets and schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Mechanical, Energy, or related engineering field of study.
  • 2+ years of project engineering experience or similar within the energy efficiency industry.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principles including HVAC and refrigeration, thermal and fluid systems, motors, lighting and/or other commercial and industrial systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets.
  • Comfortable managing projects and workflows with variable levels of ambiguity.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record and a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
  • Must be able and willing to travel locally up to 25%.
  • Strong proficiency with oral communication, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Planning, coordinating, organization, and self-management in a professional environment are a must.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
  • On-track or desire to obtain one or more of the following certifications: P.E., C.E.M., C.B.C.P. (or similar), or C.E.A.
  • Must be located in Indiana or Kentucky.

Requirements

  • CEM certification (preferred).
  • Master’s degree preferably in Mechanical, Energy or related engineering field of study (preferred).
  • Previous relevant experience with commercial and/or industrial sectors (preferred).
  • Previous relevant experience with success at managing multiple projects/programs, budgets, deliverables, and client relations (preferred).
  • Design and specification of HVAC, electrical, building automation/controls (preferred).
  • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. DOE-2, eQuest, EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, ECAM) (preferred).
  • Familiar with energy savings opportunities for building energy using systems (preferred).
  • Commissioning and/or retro-commissioning test procedures, schematic diagrams, and system specifications (preferred).
  • Familiarity with relevant energy efficiency codes and standards (e.g., IECC, Code of Federal Regulations, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.) (preferred).
