Role Description
The Director of Manufacturing Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the manufacturing strategy for Iovance. This role focuses on leading and overseeing high-priority strategic and operational projects and initiatives that shape the future of Iovance, including:
- Capacity expansions
- Process and operational improvements
- Technology upgrades
- Other critical projects aligned with the company’s business goals
The Director will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of these strategic projects to meet the company growth objectives in the context of evolving market demands and regulatory requirements. The role involves:
- Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Collaborating closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities, supplier sites, and partner locations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) preferred
- At least 10-15 years of experience in manufacturing or operations management within the biopharmaceutical or related industry
- At least 5 years in a leadership or strategic role
- Experience in strategic management consulting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements (GMP, FDA, EMA)
- Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with multiple departments
- Financial acumen and experience managing project budgets
- Strategic thinking with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
Requirements
- Lead and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic projects that align with the company’s long-term goals
- Develop project roadmaps for key initiatives, including new capacity expansion, manufacturing facility setups, process optimization, technology integration, operational efficiencies, and COGS reduction
- Lead and manage cross-functional teams and act as the primary point of contact for strategic projects
- Prioritize projects based on business impact, regulatory requirements, and market needs
- Continuously assess and recommend improvements to processes, technology, and infrastructure
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of key projects from inception to completion
- Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards and company policies
- Act as a liaison between various departments
- Develop and manage budgets for projects
- Monitor financial performance of projects
- Ensure projects comply with all applicable regulations, standards, and best practices
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to ensure product integrity, safety, and efficacy
- Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in manufacturing and the biopharmaceutical industry
- Identify opportunities to implement cutting-edge technologies
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders
- Serve as a primary point of contact for key external stakeholders
- Must adhere to Iovance Biotherapeutics’ core values, policies, procedures, and business ethics
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Activities Required
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to move about inside an office and exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally
- Must have visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures
- This position requires repetitive motion, substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
- Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information

Work Environment
This job works in a professional office environment and a manufacturing lab setting. Potential exposure to:

Requires operating standard office equipment and keyboards.
