Role Description

This role will lead and support the development, management and communication of Middle Large Commercial Workers Compensation underwriting policies and procedures, guidelines, broad appetite, product, pricing, and processes for the Workers’ Compensation line of business.

Shape and deliver the execution of the Workers’ Compensation product agenda
Represent the Middle Large Commercial Market Segment in support of profitable growth initiatives
Hybrid or Remote work arrangement available
Expectation of working in an office 3 days a week for candidates near office locations
Position can be filled at a Director or Assistant Director level depending on experience and qualifications

Responsibilities

Accountable for actions that support the execution of the targeted financial performance consistent with MLC business plans
Lead portfolio management
Track and analyze portfolio/segment/risk/state results and provide recommendations to business units
Identify emerging trends and recommend improvements needed
Develop, lead and execute on a strategic roadmap to correct identified trends
Understand and execute on product changes (form, rate, and rule)
Work in conjunction with actuarial on rate and pricing
Bring forward creative and innovative solutions to support business strategies
Develop Underwriting Guidelines that support multiple business units
Utilize analytical lens to advance pricing segmentation and risk tiering
Ensure product compliance with legislative or regulatory changes
Develop insight into competitors' strengths, weaknesses and strategies
Develop and maintain external distribution relationships for input and promote business initiatives
Works closely with senior leaders and business unit leads to develop and implement underwriting goals and strategies
Support underwriters, managers, and field leaders on key business initiatives

Qualifications

5 years minimum experience in Commercial P&C insurance industry required, loss sensitive workers’ compensation experience preferred
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership
Perceived as a leader, internally and externally, with subject matter expertise on assigned lines of business and industry classes
Operates as a self-starter and takes ownership of projects end-to-end
Uses the RAPID process when warranted
Supports the building, training and motivation of a high performance team
Formally mentors and coaches other teammates
Exhibits strong analytical skills and aptitude for numerical and/or financial evaluation of business performance
Ability to build strong relationships across an organization
Excellent communication skills and exhibits strong executive presence and professionalism
Proven track record of setting goals and delivering results

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.

The annualized base pay range for this role is: $99,760 - $195,000
The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience
