Role Description
The Vice President of Engineering is the senior engineering leader responsible for building, scaling, and operating Brightfin’s engineering organization. This role owns delivery velocity, technical quality, team health, and the engineering culture across a distributed global team. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer and serving as a full member of the Senior Leadership Team, the VP of Engineering is expected to have a point of view on the business — not just the code.
-
Own the engineering delivery model: sprint cadence, release quality, deployment velocity, and incident response across the full platform.
-
Drive meaningful improvement in delivery predictability — Brightfin needs to ship faster and more reliably as the product roadmap expands.
-
Partner directly with the CPO to translate product strategy into executable engineering plans.
-
Establish clear engineering SLAs and accountability structures across distributed teams.
-
Drive AI adoption across the engineering team — engineering should lead, not follow, Brightfin’s company-wide AI fluency initiative.
-
Build trusted relationships with the CPO and CEO; translate technical complexity into business impact.
-
Own the engineering org design: team structure, hiring prioritization, headcount planning, and budget.
-
Own the technical architecture strategy in partnership with staff/principal engineers: API design, data layer, integrations, and scalability.
-
Understand and evolve engineering standards, code quality practices, security posture, and DevOps/CI-CD maturity.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
-
8–15 years of engineering experience with 4+ years in engineering leadership, including direct management of engineering managers.
-
Proven track record leading distributed engineering teams, ideally including Eastern Europe or similar high-skill globally distributed models.
-
Experience scaling a B2B SaaS product through a high-growth phase.
Requirements
-
Strong delivery instincts: ability to diagnose why a team is underperforming and implement systemic solutions — not just urgency.
-
Architectural fluency: ability to make sound technical calls and earn the respect of senior engineers without writing all the code.
-
Experience navigating post-merger or significant organizational change; ability to build trust across legacy organizational identities.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into business impact for executive audiences.
-
Strong people leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build and retain high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
-
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment with a bias toward action and pragmatic decision-making.
-
Fluent in English.
Benefits
-
Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits package.
-
Paid time off. We strongly believe in work-life balance and taking time for yourself.
-
401K with employer match.
-
Competitive Salary with Bonus.
