[Hiring] Staff Product Manager @Skylight

6d ago - Skylight is hiring a remote Staff Product Manager. 💸 Salary: usd 170,000 - 203,000 per year 📍Location: USA

Role Description

At Skylight, product managers are responsible for strategy, planning, execution, stakeholder management, and team health. Product managers partner with researchers, designers, engineers, client stakeholders, and others to inform product decisions. A technical product manager specializes in work with significant technical depth — enterprise platforms, cloud environments, APIs, data systems, integrations, and application modernization.

Skylight supports HHS’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) across a growing portfolio of high-visibility digital modernization work. We need a Staff Product Manager who can bring structure to ambiguity and help HHS move from a problem or mandate to an actionable strategy, roadmap, and delivered outcome.

  • Enterprise platform optimization.
  • Modern digital services and applications.

You’ll own one or more workstreams and flex between strategic product leadership and hands-on delivery.

What to know going in

  • This is not a role where every project arrives with a defined product, backlog, technical architecture, or implementation plan.
  • Some workstreams will begin with questions like: What problem are we actually trying to solve? Which HHS Divisions need this capability?
  • Others will involve existing applications that already have users and stakeholders.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable operating at both levels.

What you’ll do

  • Help federal stakeholders align and make decisions.
  • Build and own the roadmap for digital services.
  • Work through technical decisions with engineers.
  • Translate needs from leadership and government partners into a product vision, objectives, and measures of success.
  • Ship early prototypes, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
  • Write user stories, prioritize the backlog, and build release plans.

Qualifications

  • Understand lean product principles and how to apply them.
  • Can develop a product strategy informed by an understanding of the problem to be solved.
  • Ability to execute the product strategy by breaking down the product’s scope into usable chunks of value.
  • Understand how to engage in the process of human-centered design.
  • Ability to collaborate with folks outside of your discipline.
  • Ability to manage clients and stakeholders in a way that builds trust.
  • Understand the merits of different software development methodologies.
  • Product experience with data ingestion and normalization across many sources.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams in iterative delivery.
  • A mindset and work approach that aligns with our core values.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multi-tenant cloud environments.
  • Experience delivering data and analytics products.
  • Experience developing or implementing enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications.
  • Experience supporting organizational change, product adoption, migrations, or onboarding.
  • Experience delivering technology in government or regulated industries.
  • A track record of staying aligned and accountable on remote teams.

Other requirements

  • Some roles are on federal contracts that require a degree or additional years of experience as a substitute.
  • All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • You must complete a company background check successfully.

Logistics

  • Position type: Full-time, exempt position.
  • Location: Fully remote position.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to DC may come up.
  • Expected start date: As soon as possible.

Care package

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Dependent care FSA, healthcare FSA, health savings account.
  • Dollar-for-dollar 401(k) match up to 10% of your salary.
  • Flexible paid-time-off policy (around 25 days per year), plus 11 paid federal holidays.
  • Up to 12 weeks paid-time-off for eligible new parents.
  • Performance rewards, including annual salary increase and bonuses.
  • Annual $2,000 allowance for professional development.
  • Annual $750 allowance for tech-related purchases.
  • Flexible, remote-friendly work environment.
