[Hiring] Product Engineer @Powerprozesse

Role Description

Fluent German is required for this role. Our customers are property management companies in Germany and you'll talk to them directly.

We're looking for developers who want to do the whole job:

• Talk to the people who use the software.
• Decide what to build.
• Build it and stay on it until it works for them.

That's what we mean by product engineer.

What a product engineer does here

• You talk to customers.
• You read the support requests and feedback for your area, look at how customers use it and talk to them directly, in German.
• You decide what to build.
• You ship early.
• You build all of it.
• You do support for your area.
• You check whether it worked.
• You automate what you can.

Examples of what you could work on

• A customer wants to bring their old file storage into our document management, with their own folder structure and thousands of documents, and it should be fast and AI-supported.
• A customer reports that the inbox agent gave a tenant a wrong answer.
• Only a few customers build their own agents in the sandbox.
• Property managers do the same task fifty times a day and it takes too many clicks.

Our tech stack

• Everything is TypeScript, from the database schema to the frontend.
• Backend: Convex (database & serverless functions)
• Frontend: Next.js, React, Tailwind, shadcn/ui
• Agents: Vercel AI SDK, LiveKit for voice

Salary

• $1000 - $3000 per month before taxes with room for growth and promotion in the months & years ahead.
• Permanent employment contract in your country of residence through our partner Deel (EOR).

Requirements

• Fluent German, spoken and written
• Fluent English
• More than a year of experience shipping production code

• You care more about whether customers can get their work done than about the perfect implementation.
• You have a good eye for aesthetics and UI design.
• You finish things.
• You have an opinion on what to build and back it up with what customers say and do.
• You take feedback well and give honest feedback yourself.
• You write clearly.
• You understand the basics of the business.
• You write almost all of your code with AI and understand architecture well enough to judge what it writes.
• You'd rather automate a task than do it twice.
• You're a generalist and learn new things quickly.

Nice to have

• You've built your own product or side project that real people used, or you've worked directly with customers before.
• Experience designing databases and optimizing query performance & cost.
• Experience building production agents, queues and long-running workflows.

This role is not for you if

• You want someone else to decide what you build and hand you tickets.
• You'd rather not deal with customers or support.
• You want to polish code for weeks before anyone sees it.
• You like to move on to the next idea before the last one really works.
