[Hiring] Payments Manager @Monzo

Role Description

In this role you will help set up and run Monzo’s Payment Operations as we expand into Europe. You’ll be involved in building and running scalable payment processes, managing key payments partnerships, and working closely with teams across the business to make Monzo’s global ambitions a success. This is a dynamic role demanding significant context switching - perfect for a generalist who thrives on being thrown in the deep end. You could be researching our next markets, supporting the supplier onboarding process, or building new back-office processes, all within the same week.

The role is based in either our Dublin or Barcelona offices.

• Managing day to day relationships with payments and banking partners.
• Being the first point of contact to resolve payments issues with third parties or from customer escalations.
• Supporting implementation projects with third parties: coordinating onboarding, contracting, and programme delivery.
• Building new back office processes to manage and scale EU payment systems.
• Coordinating adherence processes for new payment schemes.
• Partnering with engineering, product, and COps teams to support scaling payments for our EU customers.
• Seeking out and prioritising issues to facilitate continuous improvement post-launch.
• Establishing processes to manage performance for our partners and operations.
• Carrying out research into new markets, payment solutions, and potential partnerships.

Qualifications

• You have experience in fast moving companies such as tech or consultancy.
• You’re familiar with European payment systems (SEPA, Bizum, IDEAL) - first hand experience in Ireland or Spain is essential.
• You’re a self starter, proactive, have a strong sense of ownership, and comfortable with ambiguity.
• You are highly adaptable and excel at context-switching across a wide range of tasks.
• You can build and scale complex operational systems.
• You have strong strategic reasoning; able to balance and prioritise short and long term tradeoffs.
• You’re comfortable getting into the details of technical systems and working with engineering teams.
• You love solving complex problems and have a track record of managing performance and SLAs.
• You have built strong relationships and collaborate with partners to reach alignment and resolve issues.
• You can drive clarity amidst ambiguity and focus on the things that matter.
• You are organised and have managed complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• You are analytical and make data driven decisions.
