Role Description

The Wilmington Trust Institutional Services (IS) division is experiencing rapid business growth and has initiated a strategic digital transformation program. Wilmington Trust is seeking an Appian Forward Deployed Product Owner to accelerate the modernization of Bond Management capabilities and the operational workflows supporting Corporate Trust products and services.

This role is designed for an experienced product, business analysis, or transformation professional who can operate close to business users, translate operational needs into deployable digital workflows, and help lead iterative delivery in a regulated financial services environment. This role combines Product Ownership, business process transformation, and hands-on Appian workflow design responsibilities.

• Design, configure, and improve business process workflows using Appian Designer.
• Lead business process discovery across Bond Management operations.
• Identify automation opportunities and document current state pain points.
• Define value hypotheses, business outcomes, and success measures.
• Apply Appian to modernize Bond Management workflows.
• Partner closely with business product owners, operations leaders, and technology teams.
• Own and manage product backlog items.
• Lead stakeholder working sessions to define workflows.
• Build, configure, and maintain workflows in Appian Designer.
• Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate discovery and delivery communications.
• Own assigned Bond Management workflow outcomes.
• Support QA, UAT, regression testing, and production validation.
• Partner with technology teams on integration points and production support needs.
• Keep current with Appian capabilities and recommend opportunities.
• Champion Appian best practices.
• Participate in agile ceremonies.
• Build and maintain Appian reports and dashboards.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, or a combined minimum of 14 years’ higher education and/or relevant work experience.
• Hands-on experience with Appian.
• Experience in financial services and/or fintech.
• Experience operating as a product owner, product analyst, or transformation lead.
• Experience writing detailed, actionable user stories and specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to QA, UAT, regression testing, and defect triage.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted tools.
• Ability to bridge business and technical teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.

Requirements

• Appian Level 1 or higher certification, or equivalent hands-on experience with Appian Designer.
• Familiarity with SAIL expressions.
• Understanding of Appian object reusability and platform governance best practices.
• Experience with Appian AI and related tools.
• Experience using low-code or no-code workflow platforms beyond Appian.
• Corporate Trust or financial operations domain experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of business process mapping and operational improvement methods.
• Experience developing or launching digital capabilities in financial services.
• Knowledge of Agile, Lean, design thinking, and continuous improvement principles.

Benefits

• Competitive pay range: $148,300.00 - $247,100.00 Annual (USD).
• Compensation based on knowledge, skills, and experience.
