Role Description

• Assessment:
  • Conduct admission and ongoing assessment of patient’s condition.
  • Provide nursing care to meet the patient’s physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.
  • Notify the doctor of changes in assessment that require attention.
  • Reassess patients at appropriate intervals following interventions.
  • Adjust nursing care to meet patient's emerging and changing needs.
• Planning:
  • Design, direct, evaluate, and document the plan of care.
  • Work with other clinical disciplines to meet specialized patient care and discharge needs.
  • Formulate a plan of care and daily goals considering the individualized needs of the patient.
• Implementation:
  • Prepare patients physically, psychologically, and spiritually for treatments, surgeries, and diagnostic studies.
  • Know patients' conditions and report significant changes to Charge Nurse/Team Leader, and/or physician.
  • Implement patient safety initiatives and protocols including medication safety practices.
• Report Skills:
  • Give and receive reports using the Bedside Shift Report including family participation.
  • Provide an accurate and comprehensive report to the oncoming shift.
  • Delegate tasks as needed to provide continuity of care according to coworker's experience, abilities, and the patient's acuity.
• Environment & Patient Safety:
  • Maintain patient and work environment to maximize safe working space.
  • Promptly remove all used and soiled equipment, linen, etc. to the appropriate location.
  • Incorporate national and organizational goals to improve quality, patient safety, and satisfaction.
  • Report all patient safety and hazard concerns immediately.
• Supplies:
  • Maintain accurate documentation of charges and supplies used to provide patient care through cost containment measures.

Qualifications

• Associate Of Nursing, upon hire or
• 1-3 years At least one (1) year of RN experience, upon hire
• Registered Nurse: TX, upon hire
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 days
