Role Description

MindCare Solutions is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have recent experience (within the past 24 months) providing psychiatric care to a broad range of patients in a general hospital setting, including evaluating and treating patients in both the emergency department and inpatient behavioral health units.

Compensation: negotiable

Hours: P/T - 10-12 hours per week

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnose and treat mental health disorders, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality, patient-centered psychiatric care.
• Play a key role in supporting clinical coverage and ensuring continuity of care across hospital-based settings.
• Prescribe and administer psychiatric medications as necessary.
• Conduct daily rounds, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication with the healthcare team.
• Respond promptly to consult requests from the Emergency Department and Inpatient units, offering expert psychiatric assessments and recommendations.
• Monitor and adjust medication regimens to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects.
• Implement therapeutic techniques to address a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
• Offer education and support to residents and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
• Promote mental health awareness and wellness among residents.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all assessments and interventions.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance mental health care services within the facility.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health.
• Current and unrestricted PMHNP license in TX.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
• Minimum of 1 year's clinical experience as a PMHNP, preferably in a hospital or acute care setting.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Active and unrestricted DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain clinical competency & collaboration with Psychiatrist (we will provide).
