Role Description

The Harborview Medical Center Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE)/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program has an outstanding opportunity for a Tele Forensic Nurse Examiner (TFE).

Unit Description

HATC is an accredited Community Sexual Assault Program and Crime Victim Service Center. Our mission is to prevent and treat the harmful effects of traumatic experiences on survivors, families, and communities. We provide effective support and care that is individualized, culturally inclusive, and compassionate. We serve the larger community through leadership, prevention, education, and advocacy.

Position Highlights

• This is a fully remote unit with nurses working from their home.
• Team meetings will take place remotely once every other month.
• Nurses are expected to participate in monthly case reviews and quarterly QA meetings.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Provide remote consultation and clinical support for forensic examinations across Washington State.
• Guide nurses in forensic assessment, documentation, evidence collection, and discharge planning.
• Participate in pre-exam huddles and post-exam debriefs with care teams and advocacy partners.
• Support care related to sexual assault, and domestic violence non-fatal strangulation.
• Assist with evidence handling and use of Washington State evidence tracking systems.
• Adhere to Harborview FNE/SANE Program policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
• Complete required documentation, data collection, and consultation tracking.
• Participate in program meetings, case reviews, and ongoing training.

Work Schedule

• 100% remote, per-diem.
• Minimum of 4-6 twelve-hour on-call shifts per month.
• Primarily nights and weekends; occasional day shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Have/obtain Washington State Registered Nurse licensure or MSL.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.
• Three or more years of recent forensic nursing experience, including sexual assault and domestic violence non-fatal strangulation examinations.
• Successful completion of:
  • 40-hour Adult/Adolescent SANE Training (Harborview training preferred, but not required).
  • 40-hour Pediatric SANE Training (Harborview training preferred, but not required).

Benefits

• Pay Range Minimum: $46.97 hourly
• Pay Range Maximum: $87.02 hourly
• Other Compensation:
  • BSN or Higher premium $1.00/hr
  • Certification premium $1.25/hr
  • Night shift differential $5.00/hr
  • Weekend shift differential $4.00/hr
  • Sunday Night premium $3.00/hr
  • Overtime pay
