[Hiring] Surveyor - Hospital Nurse (Psychiatric) @The Joint Commission

Role Description

Currently seeking Acute Care Registered Nurse with Leadership experience in quality, accreditation and/or regulations. The RN (Psychiatric) Field Representative surveys health care organizations throughout the United States.

• Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine health care organizations' degree of compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems.
• Engages health care organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues in health care to assess compliance and to identify opportunities for improving compliance.
• Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points.
• Effectively communicates this information to health care organization leadership in a constructive and collegial style.
• Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved school of nursing and hold a master’s degree in appropriate discipline.
• Current professional license in discipline required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) at time of hire or attain by 12/31/28.
• Experience working in a Psychiatric Hospital/facility.
• Five years of recent health care experience, including 3 years of direct clinical experience in the appropriate health care settings, and 2 years of accreditation or certification leadership or senior management experience.
• Contemporary knowledge of and experience in health care operations, clinical practice, use of performance improvement methods to assess organizational performance, and current research and trends relative to health care practices.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards with direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal, interviewing, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
• Availability for part-time positions: two weeks (.48 FTE) or three weeks (.7 FTE) per month.
• Full-time positions require four weeks of availability.
• All positions require 100% nationwide travel.

Requirements

• Must be able to observe ongoing health care treatment without interrupting progress.
• Standing for long periods, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to inspect and observe medical facilities and procedures.
• Engage in extensive travel, including driving to remote locations and flying into small airports.
• Located within approximately 50 miles of a major commercial airport with direct access to domestic and/or international flight routes.
