Role Description

The Telehealth Staff Nurse is accountable for independently providing indirect patient care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year via telecommunications technology. Within the domain of Ambulatory Care Nursing, the Telehealth Staff Nurse provides remote nursing care to a variety of patient populations across the life span, including:

• Medical
• Surgical
• OB/GYN
• Pediatrics
• Geriatrics
• Behavioral Health

The Telehealth Staff Nurse is guided by the use of nursing process and evidence-based telephone nurse triage protocols to determine the most appropriate level of care at the most appropriate time for the patient’s reported medical condition or concern. This determination of appropriate care includes home care instructions.

The Telehealth Staff Nurse is also responsible for:

• Completing medication refill requests
• Assisting community pharmacies with any requests related to HHS patients

The Telehealth Staff Nurse will adhere to established Hennepin Health System (HHS) Policies, Procedures, and Protocols and in accordance with the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

• 1 year of ambulatory clinic RN experience at HHS within the last 5 years
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota
