Role Description

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for the practice of nursing and tele-nursing according to the rules and regulations defined by the state's Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger's Models of Care/Practice, policies and procedures. The nurse is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position.

• Knowledge and ability to articulate pharmacological drugs as ordered, procedures, and equipment necessary for patient care.
• Effective communication with nurses providing primary patient care, staff physicians, and other departments concerning all aspects of patient care.
• Responsible for virtual care coordination and delivery across multiple telehealth service lines within the Erlanger Health System.
• Field telehealth consult requests and triage them to the appropriate clinical department while ensuring appropriate audio-video connectivity.
• Manage both on-demand and scheduled services that require critical thinking and organization skills.
• Maintain and promote professionalism through courteous actions, confidentiality, and appropriate self-presentation.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Provide interactive communications appropriate to the age of the patient being served.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• De-escalation training, if applicable.
• Specialized courses in computer programs (preferred).

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in acute care nursing.
• Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills.
• Knowledge of organizational functions, policies, and regulations.
• Knowledge of current trends and new developments.
• Well organized and methodical.
• General knowledge of Zoom and/or other audio-video technologies for telehealth visits.
• Above average communication and organizational skills, computer proficiency, and customer service skills (preferred).
• Prior managerial experience, flexible, pleasant, and self-directed (preferred).
