Role Description

The Physician Practice and Clinic Registered Nurse provides nursing care to patients in a physician practice or ambulatory clinic setting. Reporting to practice or nursing leadership, this role:

• Assesses patients, assists with procedures and examinations, administers medications and immunizations, and provides patient education and care coordination.
• Manages triage, follow-up, and communication with patients between visits and coordinates with physicians and office staff.
• Handles clinical documentation in the electronic health record, supports population health outreach, and helps the practice run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Requirements

• One to two years of ambulatory, clinic, or medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred.
• Current state RN license is required.
• Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN examination is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Ambulatory Care Nursing (AMB-BC) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and performs triage in person and by phone.
• Assists physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments.
• Provides patient education and self-management support.
• Coordinates referrals, follow-up, and continuity of care.
• Manages patient messages and results within scope.
• Supports prevention and population health outreach.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and stocked clinical environment.
• Documents care in the electronic health record.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
