Role Description

The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, integrated behavioral and physical health services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Under the supervision of the Medical Director for Outpatient Clinic, the RN delivers psychiatric nursing care in a culturally diverse community mental health setting. Responsibilities include:

• Assessment
• Treatment planning
• Medication administration
• Crisis intervention
• Care coordination
• Management of the clinic’s Infection Control and Communicable Disease Program per accreditation guidelines

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school
• Current, unrestricted Michigan RN license
• CPR/BLS and ACLS certification
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication, professionalism, and customer‑service skills
• Ability to take initiative and support department goals

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in Behavioral Health, Community Mental Health, Psychiatry, Crisis Services, Substance Use Treatment, Partial Hospitalization, Residential Programs, or similar settings
• Experience with MAPS, PMP AWARxE, or PDMP
• PMH-RN certification
• Phone triage experience and knowledge of psychotropic medications
• 1–2 years of nursing experience (behavioral health, psychiatry, or outpatient preferred)
• Experience serving individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or co‑occurring conditions
• Familiarity with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care
