Role Description
-
Provide essential medical waiver recommendations for military service applicants.

Conduct behavioral health consults for applicants as part of the medical waivers process.
-
Schedule and perform clinical interviews for applicants.
-
Determine the eligibility of applicants and ensure that all medical documentation is accurate and up to date.

Document consults in a comprehensive clinical report, including electronic signatures.
-
Upload reports to applicant's electronic file within 72 business hours.
-
Research relevant background information and assess whether accession standard qualifications are met.
-
Communicate results with Service Waiver Authority and respective units.
-
Use medical accession standards to determine additional records, consults, or unofficial waivers needed for each applicant.
-
Create and maintain tracking reports for scheduled consults required to finalize Medical Review determination.
-
Maintain electronic records in a central, government-provided location, accessible by team members.

Ensure compliance with Privacy Act, HIPAA, federal regulations on confidentiality, and other relevant regulations.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.

Possess and maintain an active unrestricted license to practice as a Psychologist.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Knowledge of DoD Medical Standards for Appointment, Enlistment, or Induction in the Military Services (DoDI 6130.03-M).

Experience with military healthcare systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Possess an understanding of psychological disorders, assessment methods, and treatment approaches.

Experience with electronic record keeping and clinical documentation.

Possess organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy and security protocols.

Ability to form rapport with diverse populations and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of Privacy Act, HIPAA, and federal regulations on record confidentiality.

Experience with clinical assessments.

Experience working with military regulations and standards.
-
Knowledge of various diagnoses and treatments.
-
Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable suitability investigation/background check.
