Role Description

Performs telestroke evaluations for patients who have had Stroke Code initiated. Responsibilities include:

• Perform virtual physical exam via video/audio
• Obtain medical history and review Neuroimaging
• Follow Acute Stroke Algorithm to assess for candidacy of intervention; thrombolytic or thrombectomy
• Recommend appropriate treatment plan
• Document note, confer with specialist, and endorse plan to the primary team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, required
• Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs ARC-PA) program, required
• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education, required
• Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required
• Current BLS certification, required
