Role Description
As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Tailwind Care, you’ll provide evidence-based medical evaluation and treatment to children and adolescents with obesity and weight-related health concerns through virtual care.

Assess new patients and develop individualized treatment plans.

Evaluate and manage weight-related medical conditions.

Prescribe and manage medications when appropriate.

Provide ongoing follow-up as patients progress.

Work closely with pediatricians, registered dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, and care coordinators as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
What you’ll own

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of new patients, including history, growth trajectory, labs, medications, and comorbidities.

Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans based on clinical needs and family goals.

Address comorbidities, order and interpret labs, and prescribe and manage medications within your scope of practice.

Discuss obesity and weight-related health concerns in a clinically direct, culturally responsive, and non-stigmatizing way.

Monitor progress, medication response, side effects, and labs, adjusting treatment as patients progress.

Work with Tailwind’s physicians, dietitians, behavioral health clinicians, and care coordinators to keep care connected.

Complete timely, accurate documentation supporting continuity of care, medical necessity, and payer requirements.

Qualifications
-
Active, unrestricted Texas APRN license as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner (for NPs).

Active, unrestricted Texas Physician Assistant license (for PAs).

Prescriptive authority appropriate to your profession and state of practice.

Willing to obtain licenses or practice authorization in additional states where Tailwind operates (Tailwind covers licensing costs).

3+ years of outpatient pediatric clinical experience.
-
Experience evaluating and treating children or adolescents with overweight or obesity.
-
Experience prescribing and managing obesity management medications, including GLP-1 medications.
-
Consistent weekly availability for scheduled patient visits.
-
Experience and comfort delivering care via telehealth.
Nice to have
-
Existing licensure or practice authorization in multiple states.

Active DEA registration.
-
Obesity Medicine Association Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Medicine, or equivalent advanced obesity-medicine training.

Experience caring for Medicaid-insured populations.
-
Spanish or other non-English language proficiency.
Schedule & commitment
-
Part-time and fully remote in consistent weekly blocks.
-
Initially looking for 12 hours a week from 3–7 pm on two weekdays and 9 am–1 pm on Saturdays.

Hours will grow with patient volume and your availability.

Virtual initial evaluations and follow-up visits with children, adolescents, and parents.
-
Asynchronous follow-up, including patient messages, lab review, medication questions, and care-team coordination, is paid.
