Role Description
As a Patient Care Technician on the Patient Telemonitoring unit, youโll video monitor BMC patients who require an extra set of eyes and redirection for their safety. The most common patient-type youโll serve are those with high-fall risk, elopement, as well as those who pull or detach lines and tubes. In this role youโll leverage a platform, Avasure, to remotely monitor up to 24 patients. The system allows for two-way communication in multiple languages and a STAT alarm when a patient requires urgent assistance.

Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families.

Clinical services could include, but are not limited to:

Obtaining vital signs

Bathing and feeding
-
Dressing wounds
-
Assisting with hygiene

Cleaning rooms and linens
-
Emotional support
-
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department.

Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED certificate

Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)

Ability to pass clinical competency testing

Physical ability to meet job responsibilities

Basic math and computer proficiency

One of the following:
-
One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting

Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
-
Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
-
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
-
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)

Fluency in another language a plus
-
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
Requirements

Compensation Range: $23.19- $27.17
