Role Description

BJC is hiring for an Outpatient III Coder. This is an entry-level position.

This role is a remote position.

• At least one of the following certifications is required for this position: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-A, CCA, or COC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years of experience preferred

• Cert/Lic in Area of Expertise

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly reviews and analyzes patient encounters for compliant coding.
• Accurately assigns codes in a timely manner.
• Accurately abstracts data elements as required.
• Effectively collaborates with leadership and customers (HIM Operations, Patient Access, and other departments) as appropriate to ensure the integrity of the medical record and coding compliance.
• Stays current of all changes in coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, code updates, and BJC coding guidance.
