Role Description
As an OB Technician, you will provide crucial support to the labor and delivery team, maintaining a safe, sterile environment for birthing mothers and newborns.

Assist with patient care, prep rooms, manage instruments, support deliveries, transport patients, and ensure efficient workflow, adhering to safety protocols.

Strong knowledge of OB procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient care is essential.

Provide compassionate support, anticipate needs, and maintain a calm demeanor for positive birthing outcomes.

Ensure a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously.

Screen visitors to ensure Infant Security.

Answer telephones using name and department, screen calls appropriately, and refer callers to the correct staff member, patient, department, and/or resource in a timely manner.

Make every attempt to answer phones within three rings and monitor hold times.

Take clear, accurate, concise phone messages and remain consistently available to answer phones.

Relay messages in a timely manner and open and deliver mail as appropriate.

Maintain a neat and organized work environment.

Provide clerical support within the department, transcribing physician's orders and entering them into the computer for implementation and ancillary department follow-through.

Schedule/arrange diagnostic tests/procedures as ordered and inform the staff of required preparation as appropriate.
Qualifications
-
High School Graduate General Studies and one year acute care hospital experience as an Obstetrical Technician or completion of a Surgical Tech program, upon hire.

High School GED General Studies and one year acute care hospital experience as an Obstetrical Technician or completion of a Surgical Tech program, upon hire.

Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire.
Requirements

Preferred: Prior OB Tech experience or one completed year of full-time in a registered nursing program.
