Role Description
Nurse III - The Nursing Clinician/State Reviewer (Nurse III) performs duties within the scope of practice attributed to the skills of a registered nurse and reports to the Nursing Services Discipline Coordinator at state office. Work involves planning, developing, coordinating, and evaluating quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives related to nursing and clinical care and in alignment with the Settlement Agreement.

Gather data through various health monitoring tools to identify clinical issues.

Evaluate nursing services and other levels of care through statistical studies and performance evaluation reports.

Provide recommendations for improvement to the Nursing Services Discipline Coordinator.

Assist with the provision of education to nursing staff and others regarding identified deficiencies.

Monitor goals and long-range plans for SSLC nursing departments.

Serve as a state office Nursing Consultant and as a State Reviewer (SR) for the Department of Justice Settlement Agreement.

Work closely with State Supported Living Centers (SSLC) to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

Review pre-on site and on-site documents, conduct observations and interviews, and prepare narrative monitoring report comments.

Travel up to 50% of the time to complete SR duties and other assigned tasks.

Facilitate work groups related to quality improvement of Nursing and Medical Services.
Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures.

Knowledge of health care laws and regulations.

Experience in the use of Electronic Health Records preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff.

Ability to train all levels of staff.
Requirements
-
Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Nursing supervisory/administrative experience.

Three (3) years of nursing documentation experience.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience in leading teams.

Involvement in nursing projects aimed at improving nursing education, auditing, or clinical skills.
