Role Description

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. This position serves as a key leader and nursing co-manager for the UNM CDD’s Medically Fragile RN Case Manager program, specifically leading the Nurse Case Managers providing services in rural satellite offices statewide.

  • Provides clinical, operational, and staff oversight for all aspects of the Nursing Case Management program serving children and adults with medical fragility and developmental disabilities.
  • Leads staff onboarding, supervision, training, and mentorship for the satellite/rural Nurse Case Managers.
  • Oversees case assignments and coverage.
  • Supports fiscal and operational program aspects via monthly billing review and ensuring accurate and compliant documentation.
  • Attends budget meetings and works with the UNM CDD fiscal team to ensure program sustainability.
  • Serves as a co-manager for the program along with the parallel Metro Nurse Manager.
  • Performs referral screening and preassessment reviews to determine program eligibility and appropriateness of services.
  • Acts as a liaison with in and out of state agencies to ensure access to needed services.
  • Provides community education on the population served and the program for various constituents and learners.
  • This is a remote satellite position requiring use of a personal vehicle for state travel.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • 3+ years’ experience providing community-based nursing services directly for clients/families.
  • Experience teaching or training nurses.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, support, and organize teams.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing or directly related field/discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing Nurse Case Management Services as part of the NM Medically Fragile RN Case Management Program.
  • Experience with community presenting and teaching learners.
  • Experience overseeing fee-for-service billing/documentation processes for a community-based program.
  • Strong leadership, teaming, and collaborative skills.

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires passing a background check with fingerprinting.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
