Role Description

The Remote MRI technologist provides MRI scanning and scanning assistance remotely to technologists at multiple designated UTSW sites. Works under minimal supervision with the physicians to perform routine to complex MRI imaging exams, exam protocols, accreditation, and operations. Ensures services are performed in a safe environment, with assistance from on-site MRI technologists in accordance with local, state, and federal law as established in UTSW guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements. Serves as part of the Imaging Services team and acts as a resource and trainer while seeking and providing feedback for improved processes and procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate from AMA approved school.
• Must have Cardiac MRI experience.
• (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire.
• (ARRT-MR) Magnetic Resonance Imaging Upon Hire or (ARMRIT) RegMagneticResonancImagingTech Upon Hire.
• 4 years of MRI experience (preferred).
• Experience with Breast and Fetal MRI (preferred).

Requirements

• Reviews physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, sedation, and applicability to the MRI protocol.
• Ensures all patients have been screened for MRI appropriateness and reviews any contraindications for exams.
• Discusses findings with on-site technologist, physicist, and radiologist as applicable.
• Documents changes as appropriate in electronic health record.
• Ensures the procedure and instructions have been explained to the patient.
• Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
• Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner.
• Acts as a preceptor/trainer for new hires and trainees.
• Performs post processing on MRI systems and remote workstations.
• Responds to inquiries/calls/emails/chats in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures that all processes and procedures are maintained.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
