[Hiring] Inpatient Coding Manager @CommonSpirit Health

Role Description

As our Coding Manager, you will oversee and coordinate inpatient coding operations within the Coding Service Center, ensuring efficient personnel management, workflow optimization, and high standards of quality and productivity. You will serve as a key leader in promoting the standardization of coding practices across the organization, ensuring full alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory compliance.

• Monitor critical performance metrics, including Discharged Not Billed (DNB) reports and timely filing, to support the financial health of the facility.
• Act as a primary point of contact for problem resolution, providing expert guidance on coding and billing inquiries.
• Collaborate closely with HIM, IT, Case Management, and clinical leadership to address complex documentation and revenue cycle needs.
• Foster strong partnerships with the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team to enhance physician documentation and ensure accurate code assignment for severity of illness.
• Maintain a focus on operational excellence and proactive communication to effectively lead your team to meet organizational goals.
• Uphold the highest integrity in coding and billing practices.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of three (3) - five (5) years coding experience in an acute care setting.
• Two (2) - three (3) years supervisory experience.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and troubleshooting computer problems.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS.
• Knowledge of disease management, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology.
• Knowledge of 3M Encoder, Coding Clinic Guidelines, CMS Program Memorandums related to coding and billing practices, and Nosology.
• Basic knowledge of charge description master (CDM).

Requirements

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree.
• Understanding of Charge Capture.
