Under general direction of the Coding Manager and according to established procedures, this position:

• Assigns ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving ancillary services and chemotherapy infusion at UCSD Health System.
• Assigns all applicable APC's for patient accounts.
• Abstracts all coded data into abstracting information system.
• Responsible for data entry into electronic databases for use in assessing quality of patient care, outcome analysis, and financial management.

Qualifications

• Must have coding knowledge or at least 1 year of experience in acute care setting with CPC or RHIT/RHIA/CCS or exam-eligible to test and credential within 6 months of hire.
• Successful completion of AHIMA or AAPC accredited Health Information Tech/Mgmnt or Coding program.
• Base credential by AHIMA with either RHIA/RHIT or by AAPC with a CPC. AHIMA CCS credential.
• Coding experience with outpatient ancillary, infusion clinic records and claim edits.
• Must maintain credentials by attending regular education sessions.
• Proven skill with computers and computer systems.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience Chemotherapy coding experience to include injection and infusion charging.
• 3M 360 CAC.
• Epic experience.

Benefits

• Annual Full Pay Range: $91,120 - $113,316 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
• Hourly Equivalent: $43.64 - $54.27.
• Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
