Role Description
The Executive Medical Science Liaison will prioritize contacts with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and clinical investigators within an assigned U.S. region, providing advanced scientific exchange and generating actionable insights. This role serves as a field-based extension of the Medical Affairs and Evidence Generation (MA&EG) organization, requiring a highly experienced professional who operates with independence, accountability, and execution focus in a fast-paced, performance-driven biotech environment.

Responsibilities

Enhancing knowledge / scientific exchange:

Engages in advanced Medical-to-Medical scientific discussions including disease awareness, clinical data interpretation, and evolving treatment paradigms.

Demonstrates deep expertise in immunology and/or dermatology.

Handles challenging or skeptical stakeholders with strong scientific rationale.

Establishes credibility as a trusted scientific expert and resource internally and externally.

Supports medical training for internal stakeholders as needed.

Adapts scientific exchange to diverse stakeholders while maintaining scientific integrity.

Insight gathering:

Synthesizes, communicates, and proactively shares actionable scientific insights from field engagement.

Identifies trends in clinical practice and factors that influence treatment decisions.

Maintains strong alignment with home-office MA&EG partners.

Builds and maintains relationships with clinicians and regional experts.

Regional ownership / execution:

Plans and executes field activities within assigned territory.

Demonstrates strong judgment in allocating time and resources.

Maintains a consistent field presence with disciplined execution.

Cross-functional engagement:

Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with home-office stakeholders.

Supports the field-based needs of Commercial and Market Access teams.

Data generation/R&D Support:

Acts as a key scientific liaison between the organization and clinical investigators.

Provides scientific support for congresses, advisory boards, and other relevant external engagements.

Supports clinical development efforts through trial awareness and site engagement.

Workstream leadership:

Leads defined field-based workstreams ensuring high-quality execution.

Experience elevation / team contribution:

Models best practices in scientific engagement and insight generation.

Provides onboarding, coaching, and informal mentorship to new MSLs.

Broader stakeholder engagement (as applicable):

Participates in scientific discussions with larger practices and health systems.

Demonstrates awareness of factors influencing treatment decisions.
Qualifications

Must be able to travel approximately 70% including some weekends.

Strong foundation in clinical trial design, implementation, and interpretation.
Requirements
-
MD, NP, PA, PharmD, or PhD in a life science required.

Specialization in Dermatology, Immunology, or Allergy required.
-
Minimum of 5+ years of Medical Science Liaison experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience in Immunology and/or Dermatology required.

Proven ability to independently manage territory and navigate complex stakeholder interactions.

Experience supporting or engaging with clinical investigators and research sites required.

Experience working cross-functionally with MA&EG functions preferred.

Experience operating in a fast-paced biotech or resource-constrained environment strongly preferred.
Compensation Statement
The expected base salary for this position is: $153,616.00 to $245,387.00. Compensation includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long-term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
