Role Description

Our client, a leading healthcare and research organization, is seeking an experienced Epic Beacon Analyst with a PharmD background to support the continued build and implementation of Epic within its Research and Clinical Trials environment. This is a specialized, hands-on role requiring someone who can bridge clinical pharmacy expertise, Epic Beacon configuration, oncology workflows, and research protocol requirements. The consultant will partner closely with pharmacy, clinical, research, operational, and Epic application teams to translate complex clinical trial protocols into scalable and accurate Epic workflows. The ideal candidate has significant Epic Beacon build experience within a large health system, academic medical center, cancer center, or research-focused healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Epic Beacon build, configuration, testing, validation, and optimization for research and clinical trial workflows.
• Translate clinical trial protocols and treatment plans into accurate Beacon treatment plans, medication workflows, order sets, and supporting functionality.
• Partner with research, pharmacy, oncology, nursing, physician, and operational stakeholders to understand protocol requirements and design appropriate Epic solutions.
• Support workflows involving investigational drugs, research medications, oncology treatment plans, and protocol-driven medication management.
• Ensure Beacon build accurately reflects dosing requirements, treatment cycles, sequencing, supportive medications, monitoring, and protocol-specific requirements.
• Participate in integrated testing, workflow validation, issue resolution, go-live preparation, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Collaborate across Epic Research and other integrated application teams to ensure research workflows function effectively across the broader Epic ecosystem.
• Provide subject matter expertise at the intersection of Epic Beacon, pharmacy, oncology, and clinical research.

Qualifications

• PharmD experience required.
• Strong hands-on Epic Beacon build and configuration experience.
• Current or previous Epic Beacon certification/accreditation strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting Beacon within an oncology, cancer center, academic medical center, or similarly complex healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated understanding of oncology medication workflows, treatment plans, chemotherapy protocols, dosing, and medication management.
• Experience translating clinical requirements into Epic build and working directly with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and operational stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of Epic implementation methodology, testing, validation, change control, and production support.
• Ability to work independently in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Highly Preferred

• Direct experience supporting clinical trials or research protocols within Epic Beacon.
• Experience building treatment plans associated with research studies and investigational therapies.
• Knowledge of Investigational Drug Services (IDS) and research pharmacy workflows.
• Experience within an NCI-designated cancer center, major oncology program, or academic research organization.
• Exposure to Epic Research functionality and integrations between Beacon and research workflows.
• Previous Epic implementation or large-scale transformation experience.

Requirements

• PharmD + active Pharmacist/Rx license are required.
• Candidate must have experience in both Epic Beacon and Willow.
• Beacon will be the primary build area, but a Willow background and certification/proficiency are required.
• Beacon & Willow certification or Epic Verified Proficiency through self-study is acceptable for experienced systems analysts/builders.
• Research/Clinical Trials experience is required.
• Data Courier badge is preferred, not required.
