Role Description
Given the exceptional growth of its business, Charlie Health is adding a part-time Psychiatrist to the team to serve as our Short-Term Disability (STD) certifying provider who can support STD requirements for Charlie Health patients clinically appropriate for medical leave. This physician will:

Review clinical records and perform telehealth assessments to confirm functional impairment related to behavioral health conditions.

Complete required employer documentation, working closely with our clinical and care-coordination teams to deliver fast, compliant decisions.

Partner with our Medical Directors, Chief Clinical Officer, and the rest of the medical team to assure the highest quality of patient care.

Conduct comprehensive evaluations and patient consultations while ensuring compliance with medical and clinical policies and procedures.
Responsibilities

Review patient intake assessments/charts and conduct telehealth evaluations to evaluate work-function impairment and medical necessity for Short-term Disability (STD).

Complete, certify, and sign Short-term disability forms with accurate, consistent information.

Coordinate with Charlie Health clinicians and care coordinators to respond to clarifying requests from Employer contacts/third-party adjudicators.

Meet service-level timelines for submission of Short-term disability paperwork, including timeliness of extensions.

Maintain HIPAA and state/federal compliance, and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Provide direct patient care and education for medication management, diagnostic evaluations, and medical assessments, as needed.

Work diligently with support staff to ensure proper patient communication and follow-up, as needed.
Qualifications

Ability to support the Charlie Health team on a contract, part-time basis; remote friendly.

Must be licensed as an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), licensed to practice medicine in MO, IN, and KY, and be open to being cross-licensed in additional states, as needed.

Preference for licensure in additional states, including but not limited to: MI, IL, OH, PA, CO, NC, DE, or TX.

Experience evaluating clinical appropriateness for short-term disability and completion of short-term disability paperwork required.

3+ years experience working as an MD or DO; IOP, PHP, and/or IP experience is preferred.

Commitment to delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care.

Ability to communicate and work proficiently with medical staff, patients, clinical support, and administrative staff.

Proficiency in use of electronic health records and Google Suite/MS Office.
