[Hiring] Community Stroke Navigator @Stroke Aotearoa New Zealand

Role Description

Join Stroke Aotearoa as a Community Stroke Navigator (Kaiārahi) for the Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough and Kaikoura regions and play a pivotal role advancing our mission to prevent stroke and improve lives. This role is about working alongside communities:

• Building relationships
• Identifying needs
• Supporting people to better understand and manage their stroke risk

You will work closely with:

• People affected by stroke
• Community groups
• Health providers
• Other key stakeholders

Through your advice, guidance, and support, you will help:

• Connect people to the right information and resources
• Amplify local capability
• Maximise the impact of Stroke Aotearoa’s mahi across the region

Qualifications

• Experience working in the health, community, rehabilitation, or disability sectors
• Ability to communicate with empathy and engage effectively across all age groups and stakeholders
• Experience working with vulnerable and diverse communities
• Confident facilitator/presenter/networker
• Well-developed time management and organisational skills

Requirements

• Resourceful, self-motivated, and committed to making a difference for New Zealanders
• Some knowledge of the effects of stroke and strategies for day-to-day management (additional training provided)
• Understanding of responsibilities to Te Tiriti o Waitangi to support equitable health outcomes in the community
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to confidently facilitate training and education in the community
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience
• Competent using the Microsoft Suite of products (specifically MS Word, TEAMS, and PowerPoint) and information technology in general
• Able to work independently as well as part of a wider team
• Able to travel regionally with some nights away from home
• Must have a full clean driver’s licence and be currently eligible to work within New Zealand
• Position is 30 hours per week; candidates will need to be able to work from home and remotely
