Qualifications
-
Coding certification (CPC‑A, CPC, CCS‑P, or CCA)

Strong knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM/CPT guidelines
-
Solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Requirements

High School Degree or GED
-
CPC-A, CPC, CCS-P, or CCA certification
-
Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT Coding Guidelines
-
Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
-
Experience in related fields

Job Responsibilities
-
Assist with coding/billing questions from both internal and external customers
-
Follow up on denials, research, and review charts for potential coding issues
-
Communicate with providers on insufficient or unclear documentation
-
Maintain a close working relationship with all departments and internal customers
-
Ensure understanding and compliance with coding protocols, rules, and regulations
-
Maintain knowledge of current coding revisions and communicate changes with providers
-
Validate and/or abstract codes specific to diagnoses and procedures
-
Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy and sequencing
-
Ensure all codes are current, active, and billable according to CCI

Successful completion of a certification program from an accredited organization
