Role Description

The Cambridge Genomic Laboratory (East GLH) is looking to recruit a Clinical Scientist to the Haem-Onc cytogenetics team. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of genomic testing for leukaemia diagnosis.

• Several years of hands-on experience in analysis of FISH and G-banded Karyotype analysis.
• SNP array analysis experience would be desirable.
• Experience in cytogenetic laboratory techniques and safe sample handling.
• Service improvement and quality management in a UKAS accredited laboratory is highly desirable.
• Supervision and mentoring of staff.
• Managing resources to deliver a safe and accredited service.

Working hours are rostered between 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday, so flexibility is desirable.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of genomic testing for leukaemia diagnosis.
• Experience in cytogenetic laboratory techniques.

Requirements

• Analysis, interpretation, reporting and authorization of hematology cancer cytogenomic tests.
• Deliver and maintain a high-quality diagnostic service to regional oncology services.
• Provide advice to clinicians and colleagues.
• Manage a small team of scientists by recruiting, training and supporting continual personal development.
• Ensure the continuous improvement and development of laboratory services.
• Ensure the continued ISO:15189 compliance of the laboratory using the quality management system.
