Position Title: Case and Contact Investigator (Epidemiologist I)

Location: Remote

Position End Date: 7/31/26

Salary: $85,000




The CDC Foundation seeks an Epidemiologist I Case and Contact Investigator who will work under the supervision of the Epi Investigation Lead. The primary duties will include planning, developing, and conducting epidemiological investigations, surveillance, and interventions limited in scope and/or complexity to determine the causes of diseases and implement methods of disease control. Investigation findings will be communicated to the team via established methods and tools. This position may require flexibility in work hours to include weekends and evenings for the duration of the emergency response.




· Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.

· Knowledge of methods of epidemiological design, data collection, data analysis and presentation of information.

· Knowledge of standard descriptive statistical methods.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

· Considerable knowledge of biostatistics including the use of statistical software and statistical programming languages.

· Considerable knowledge of computers, database design, management and manipulation.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.




· Assists with the collection and analysis of statistical data, known disease properties, medical assessments, laboratory findings, and other information to identify trends and methods of epidemic prevention or containment and develops technical reports of findings.

· Assists with monitoring outbreaks and identifying proposed methods of epidemic containment. Assists with monitoring and evaluating disease control programs in public health care facilities, day care institutions, nursing homes, other public facilities and recommends solutions for disease control problems.

· Assists with response to inquiries from health care professionals and members of the public regarding environmental or communicable disease hazards.

· Assists with studies and investigation of environmental exposures to determine their impact on human health, conducts health surveys, and issues health education advisories.

· Assists with response to requests for public presentations on communicable or environmental disease hazards, epidemic outbreaks, and control programs.

· Assists with the design, implementation, and evaluation of demographic, environmental, and epidemiologic studies relating to public health problems in order to identify risk factors, demographics/ characteristics and possibly prevent recurrence of health problems.

· Assists with response to requests for public presentations on communicable or environmental disease hazards, epidemic outbreaks, and control programs.




This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and South Carolina Department of Public Health, in order to best support the State of South Carolina in their public health programming.

This position is currently a remote position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
