The AVP, Clinical Program and Product Strategy is a senior leadership role at the center of this transformation. This leader will design, test, and scale new cross-functional approaches to clinical programs and products that measurably improve the experience, clinical outcomes, and total cost of care for our members. Working at the intersection of clinical strategy, product, and operations, the AVP will translate ambitious clinical priorities into pilots, launch them with rigor, and scale what works across the enterprise.
This is a challenging, highly visible role that demands the ability to navigate ambiguity, align many stakeholders around a shared vision, and deliver results in a complex, matrixed environment. It is also one of the most impactful roles on the team as it directly shapes how Humana improves health outcomes and lowers costs for millions of members.
Our team within Clinical Innovation & Trend employs a rigorous process to set specific clinical priorities for the enterprise, identify the greatest sources of value, and lead a multi-disciplinary process to identify discrete opportunities for enhanced clinical outcomes, cost control, quality, and member experience. The AVP, Clinical Program and Product Strategy will lead a substantial portion of this work as they own the end-to-end journey from clinical strategy through program and product design, implementation, and scaling.
Responsibilities include:

Drive enterprise-wide clinical strategy: play a leadership role on a team that develops and executes on enterprise-wide clinical strategies that drive improved health outcomes for our members.

Lead clinical program and product design, implementation, and scaling by owning the full lifecycle from concept and pilot design through launch, and then maintaining strategic oversight as programs are scaled to ensure continuous improvement and sustained impact.

Clinical program and intervention scope includes near to medium term value delivery of across digital health partnerships strategy and execution, Stars clinical strategy and interventions for key HEDIS measures (GSD / CBP and Care Coordination), and specialty strategy in key high-cost specialties (oncology, CV, MSK, kidney care, etc.).

Drive the evolution of our long-term approach to integrated clinical products to deeply understand member needs and create a differentiated clinical experience and outcomes and cost impact.

Lead both the team directly and drive deep collaboration with partner teams across the enterprise, uniting business leaders, clinicians, product managers, analytics, engineering, and design around common goals.

Work across the organization in a multidisciplinary way to lead strategic partners across the enterprise, including business leaders, clinicians, and analytics experts, to develop strategies for complex clinical programs.

Influence others across the organization to ensure enterprise-wide efforts are coordinated, focused on the highest-value opportunities, and take advantage of synergies that occur when multiple teams with different skillsets and scopes come together for common goals.

Design, test, and scale new cross-functional approaches that improve the experience, clinical outcomes, and cost of care for members, building repeatable capabilities and operating models that outlast any single initiative.

Provide strategic input, updates, and presentations to enterprise-wide forums.

Influence senior decision-makers at Humana on opportunities to improve health, lower costs, and improve experience for members, providers, and associates.

Exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues and bring others along with them.
Qualifications

MD or DO degree
-
10+ years of strategy and operations development and implementation experience for healthcare-related organizations.

Clinical operations experience and expertise, including a deep understanding of how care is delivered across payers and providers, and especially the intersection between the two.

Product experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including analytics, engineering, design, and clinical roles, to build and scale programs or products.

Strong business and/or consulting experience.

Solid business and financial acumen.

Experience with analytics and use of data.

Experience leading cross-functional teams to execute on complex projects.

Process improvement experience.

Ability to influence, establish, and drive improved business outcomes.

Ability to lead a diverse group of people toward a common vision with proven results related to motivation, engagement, and goal attainment.

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employeesโ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$184,800 - $254,100 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
