Role Description

The Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) provides clinical services including individual, group, and family therapy, clinical assessments, case management support, and treatment planning within IOP and PHP levels of care. The AMFT will work under the supervision of a licensed clinical supervisor and collaborate closely with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, nursing staff, and external providers to support coordinated, high-quality patient care.

Pay Range: $45–$65 per hour (DOE)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and assist with biopsychosocial evaluations
• Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans under appropriate supervision
• Provide individual, group, and family therapy as clinically indicated and within scope of practice
• Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups within IOP/PHP settings
• Provide case management and assist with coordination of community resources
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members
• Participate in crisis intervention and risk assessment under appropriate clinical supervision
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in EHR systems
• Assist with discharge planning and continuity of care
• Advocate for clients and support engagement and participation in treatment
• Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development
• Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory standards
• Practice within the scope of an AMFT registration and California Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements

Qualifications

• Active California AMFT registration required
• Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or a related qualifying field required
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or outpatient clinical settings preferred
• Familiarity with IOP and PHP levels of care preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) preferred
• Knowledge of community resources and care coordination practices
• Ability to work effectively in a remote/telehealth environment
• Must be able to participate in required clinical supervision
