Role Description
As Associate Director, Medical Advisor, EU West, you will report to the Medical Director EU West and provide scientific leadership for three rare-disease launch programs in achondroplasia, limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, and genetic hypocalcaemia. You will translate global strategy into a focused country medical plan, build trusted partnerships across the French rare-disease ecosystem, and ensure high-quality, compliant execution in an agile affiliate environment. The main focus will be France.
Responsibilities
-
Co-develop and execute the France Medical Affairs plan for the three portfolio programs, with clear priorities, milestones, KPIs, resource needs, and budget assumptions.
-
Maintain deep expertise in the diseases, patient journeys, standards of care, competitive environment, and emerging evidence; translate complex data into accurate and relevant scientific narratives for French stakeholders.
-
Build and sustain peer-to-peer relationships with key experts, multidisciplinary care teams, scientific societies, rare-disease networks, and patient organizations while preserving the independence and integrity of scientific exchange.
-
Identify and segment relevant centers and stakeholders, characterize referral and treatment pathways, and help quantify patient populations and unmet medical needs across France.
-
Capture, document, analyze, and communicate actionable field insights to the local and global organization, and close the loop by showing how validated insights inform strategy and execution.
-
Deliver balanced, non-promotional scientific exchange; lead advisory boards, expert meetings, congress activities, internal training, and other medical education initiatives.
-
Contribute to the local evidence plan, including real-world evidence, registries, epidemiology, outcomes research, collaborative studies, and investigator-sponsored research; support protocol and publication review as appropriate.
-
Support pre-launch and launch activities by clarifying unmet need, patient identification and referral pathways, multidisciplinary care requirements, and evidence gaps; contribute medical input to early or compassionate access activities when applicable.
-
Provide robust medical review of scientific, educational, market access, and promotional materials through the appropriate review process, ensuring scientific accuracy, fair balance, and consistency with approved information and company standards.
-
Work closely with Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, Patient Advocacy, Pharmacovigilance, Compliance, and global or regional Medical Affairs while maintaining the appropriate separation between medical and promotional activities.
-
Identify and report adverse events, product complaints, and other safety information within required timelines; maintain complete documentation and complete all required training.
