• Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for hospital outpatient medical record documentation.
• Includes, but is not limited to, medical, diagnostic, and procedural information for the correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes.
• Primary coding responsibility is Diagnostic/Clinical, Emergency Room, Recurring, and Specimen patient types in an acute hospital setting.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) - Required
• Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) - Preferred

Requirements

• No experience required - Required
• Hospital coding experience - Preferred
• Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization and remote coding experience - Preferred
• One or more of the following certifications Upon Hire - Required:
• RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator
• RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician
• CCA - Certified Coding Associate
• CCS or CCS-P
• CPC, CPC-A, or CPC-H
