Role Description
The Addiction Psychiatrist works alongside a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, peers support specialists, drug and alcohol counselors, housing specialists, occupational therapists, and licensed vocational nurses/licensed psychiatric technicians. The psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric and addiction treatment services within clinic and telehealth settings. Primary responsibilities include:

Conducting psychiatric and substance use disorder evaluations.

Formulating diagnoses.

Developing evidence‑based treatment plans for individuals with co‑occurring mental health and substance use conditions.
Duties include:

Providing ongoing medication management, including prescribing and monitoring Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT).

Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to support integrated, recovery‑oriented care.

Delivering utilization review, medication monitoring, and quality‑assurance activities.

Educating clients, families, and caregivers on medication‑related and addiction‑treatment considerations.

Collaborating with juvenile courts, care coordinators, and community partners as needed regarding treatment recommendations.
This role reports to the Medical Director and the Assistant Vice President of Medication Support Services.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited medical school and satisfactory completion of a psychiatric residency program approved by the AMA or the American Osteopathic Association.

Must be a Board-Certified Psychiatrist or board eligible.

Must possess current California MD License, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner CA license, DEA registration, and NPI number confirmation.

Must maintain a minimum of $1,000,000.00/$3,000,000 of professional liability insurance.

Knowledge of newer medications preferred.

Ability and comfort with the use of technology is required.

Bilingual/Bi-cultural Spanish speaking is desired but not required.

Comfort prescribing Medications for Addiction Treatment is required.
Requirements

Variable days; Sycamores has psychiatrists working from one day a week to five days a week.

Contract Compensation: $200–$255 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Practice Setting: Pasadena, CA or via telehealth.
