Role Description

Grove is looking for a temporary Marketing leader to support our Acquisition function during a parental leave period for 3-4 months (starting ASAP, ending September). You will partner directly with the VP of Marketing to increase new customer acquisition within efficiency guardrails, helping to further refine creative strategy and new channel expansion. You will drive day-to-day operations with channel managers, internal and external creative resources, and reporting tools, while helping to refine our marketing strategy across channels and creative themes to enable near-term growth.

At the end of the contract period, you will bring our Director of Growth up to speed on team processes and performance, current strategy, near-term channel and spend plans, and acquisition funnel performance during their time away.

The ideal candidate will support and run the engine that acquires our next generation of customers—profitably and at scale. You’ll manage and optimize Grove’s social-first content engine and creator ecosystem, then refine and manage the distribution strategy across organic and paid channels to put that work in front of the right consumers.

This isn’t just another performance marketing role—you’ll use your brand-building expertise to deepen Grove’s awareness in relevant communities while selecting and scaling only the paid tactics that reinforce that strategy.

We are going after a very specific audience: The conscientious consumer that believes their purchasing decisions can make their home, family, and planet healthier. To accomplish this, your instincts will be led by organic social, partnerships, and influencer strategies that boost both aided and unaided awareness of Grove.

You’ll lead the existing team in translating our mission into thumb-stopping stories, series, and collaborations that educate and enlighten consumers around making more mindful purchase decisions.

As the content strategy continues to hum, you’ll scale its impact by optimizing strategies on Grove’s core paid channels (Meta, TikTok, and Google) as well as continue our roadmap for new channel expansion (YouTube, Podcasts, Substack, TikTok shops), utilizing advanced measurement and analytics to understand the incremental value and scalability of each channel and tactic.

What You'll Own

  • Content and Editorial Strategy: Refine and execute the content pillars and quarterly editorial calendar (tentpoles, educational series, seasonal moments, brand/category launches) as well as refine platform-native playbooks for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels.
  • Creator & Influencer Partnerships: Manage and expand Grove’s creator program across macro, mid, micro, and community creators, managing sourcing, vetting, contracting, briefing, usage rights, and compliance.
  • Payback Equation inputs: Own the impact of media mix, content focus, and strategy on first order profit and early tenure repeat rates.
  • Experimentation: Run a transparent test and learn pipeline across channels, building the roadmap for new channel/tactic exploration.
  • Forecasting & pacing: Own budget planning, scenario modeling, and in-quarter pacing; communicate tradeoffs and expected returns to leadership and Finance.
  • Cross-functional impact: Partner with Product and Ecommerce teams on landing page and funnel improvements.
  • Team & vendor leadership: Manage and develop a small, high-performing team, including managing and selecting agencies to augment in-house resources.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in direct-to-consumer brand, content, or social marketing with a proven record of scaling profitable new-customer volume.
  • Demonstrated understanding and execution of a modern marketing playbook.
  • Organic operator beyond social: activated Reddit/forums, influencer/UGC, AEO/AIO and agentic commerce, and/or guerrilla/community tactics.
  • Creative-curious and data-driven: able to write a creative brief and comfortable with tests, lift studies, and content-assisted attribution.
  • Builder and coach: experience in hiring, managing, and developing small teams.
  • Mission-aligned: passionate about sustainability and human health.

What Sets You Apart

  • Technical depth in measurement & attribution: fluent in media mix modeling, multi-touch attribution, lift testing, and surveys.
  • Shopify-savvy collaborator: comfortable partnering with Product and CX teams to improve funnels.
  • Feedonomics (or similar) pro: hands-on experience with product feed architecture, rule logic, diagnostics, and GMC policies.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $155,000-195,000. Our compensation bands are determined based on market-specific cost of living data.
