[Hiring] Developer Advocate @InfluxData

Role Description

As a Developer Advocate on our Developer Relations team within Marketing, you’ll make developers more productive and empowered by:

• Becoming an authority on the InfluxDB platform, open source and commercial.
• Helping developers get started on InfluxDB and build their own solutions.
• Establishing a social media presence that represents InfluxData.
• Encouraging InfluxDB adoption through blogs, videos, and other content you create.
• Being an active voice in Influx Community groups and Slack discussions.
• Showcasing InfluxData through regular talks at conferences, meetups, and online events.
• Building and delivering technical training workshops on Influx software.
• Supporting and empowering our user community and reducing onboarding friction through:
  • Code samples
  • Debugging
  • Direct partner engagement
  • Prototypes
  • Long-tail support channels (forums, office hours, blog posts, and more)
• Influencing InfluxData’s product strategy as the developer’s advocate inside the company, working with Product Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
• Building relationships with technical experts and communities around other projects.

Qualifications

• Strong public speaker with experience presenting at conferences, meetups, or online events.
• 2+ years of experience working with and supporting open source projects, developers, platforms, communities, or user groups.
• Experience building technology demos and examples that developers can follow.
• Knowledge of software development and ability to learn new technologies and languages.

Requirements

• Bonus points if you have built and delivered technical training, both in person and online.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Contributed code to open source projects.
• Hands-on experience with IoT and edge devices, protocols, and frameworks.
• Experience with Python, JavaScript, Java, or similar languages.
• Worked with or for database companies.
