[Hiring] Tax Law Specialist @State of Florida

Role Description

This is a Tax Law Specialist position in the Florida Department of Revenue's Executive Program Office of Technical Assistance section responsible for work in one or more of the following areas:

• Performing complex tax law research and analysis
• Conducting conferences with taxpayers and their representative(s)
• Preparing various tax related correspondence and other technical tax related documents
• Serving as a primary point of contact for taxpayer calls on general tax matters
• Evaluating applications for new and expanding business permits

Qualifications

• Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
• Six years of experience with evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting statutes, rules, case law, and policies.
• Six years of experience in writing technical correspondence which demonstrates proficiency in applying statutes, case law, and rules.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or area of business and two years of professional experience in a tax administration program, business administration, public relations, investigations, or complaint resolution.
• A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or business administration may substitute for six years of the required experience.
• Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) certificate may substitute for one year of required professional experience described above.

Preferences

• Experience in the use of computers and software programs, with emphasis on Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, and office automation techniques.
• Experience with the Department of Revenue's SAP computer system.
• Experience evaluating applications for new and expanding business permits.
• Experience with Communication Services Tax.
• Experience with Corporate Income Tax.
• Experience with Documentary Tax.
