Role Description

DuckDuckGo is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead legal strategy for its subscription and marketing initiatives. As a key member of the Law & Policy team, this role is responsible for ensuring DuckDuckGo’s subscription products and marketing activities remain compliant across a diverse and evolving global landscape. The Senior Legal Counsel will partner closely with product, engineering, marketing, and finance teams, embedding legal guidance into every stage of product and campaign development.

This position offers end-to-end ownership of all legal matters related to subscriptions and marketing, from early ideation through launch. Responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining the legal framework for subscription offerings
• Advising on terms of service, in-product notices, and marketing materials
• Navigating complex requirements for online payments, promotions, and multi-jurisdictional compliance
• Serving as the primary legal advisor for advertising and marketing law

This role supports a fast-paced, creative environment.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of legal experience
• Preferably with in-house expertise in advertising, marketing law, subscription services, or consumer-facing software
• Proven ability to proactively track and implement evolving legal requirements
• Ability to draft clear guidance for non-lawyers
• Operate autonomously in a remote-first setting
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active membership in a U.S. state bar
