[Hiring] Senior Legal Counsel @Stedi

Role Description

We're building the first new healthcare clearinghouse in decades. Stedi is the world's only programmable healthcare clearinghouse, enabling both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions.

We are hiring a Senior Counsel with high potential who is excited to grow with the business – healthcare experience is strongly preferred. You will immediately own a large share of our strategic customer contracting work, trading partner agreements with payers, and key vendor contracts.

• Work closely with the Head of Legal and regularly partner with company leadership and teams across the business.
• Scale and improve the processes and tools that let a lean team move quickly while operating comfortably within our risk profile.
• Bring excellent judgment and work ethic, strong writing, and the ability to translate legal expertise into business strategy.

What you'll do

• Own customer contracting from first redline through signature, working closely with the Head of Legal on complex edge cases and process improvements.
• Drive payer trading partner agreements and key vendor agreements to close quickly and within our risk profile while maintaining our rigorous compliance standards.
• Be a strategic partner across Stedi, using your legal expertise to further our business interests.
• Negotiate BAAs as part of customer, payer, and vendor deals, and get most of them to signature without escalation.
• Improve, expand, and automate playbooks and workflows.
• Take on new areas based on interest and business need; as the second legal hire for a rapidly growing business with complex and interesting legal needs, you will have a tremendous opportunity to shape the trajectory of your career.

Qualifications

• Bar-admitted and ready to take on a role with broad ownership.
• Healthcare experience, whether through BigLaw or in-house.
• Ability to write clearly and explain complex issues in plain language for different stakeholders.
• Comfortable with high-volume work and shifting priorities, maintaining high quality through effective systems and habits.
• Thrive in ambiguity, create structure from chaos, and independently design scalable processes from scratch.
• Business acumen to blend legal rigor with strategic persuasion.
• Relentless and resourceful; follow up, escalate, and push until the job is done with professionalism and integrity.
• Clear and confident communication with executives, lawyers, regulators, procurement staff, engineers, and everyone in between.
• Move fast and operate with precision in an environment where clarity, accountability, and urgency matter.
