Role Description
In this role, you will independently manage complex liability D&O and EPL claims involving public entities โ municipalities, police officers/departments, etc. and school boards. You will investigate, evaluate, and resolve claims from initial notice through final resolution while providing excellent service to policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

Manage complex claims involving public entities, including:
-
Tort Claim Notices and compliance with applicable state requirements
-
Land use and zoning-related disputes
-
Violations of local ordinances, statutes, regulations, or rules
-
Law enforcement liability claims, including allegations related to supervision, training, and wrongful acts by public officials
-
Other liability claims involving government entities and officials
-
Manage school board liability claims, including allegations involving:
-
Discrimination or unfair treatment of students
-
Failure to provide appropriate educational services
-
Failure to protect students
-
Wrongful acts affecting students or their families
-
Manage employment practices liability claims involving public entities and school boards, such as:
-
Wrongful termination
-
Harassment and hostile work environment allegations
-
Retaliation claims
-
Violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and other employment-related laws
Qualifications
-
Ability to analyze complex facts, legal issues, and insurance coverage questions
-
Strong investigation, negotiation, and decision-making skills
-
Experience managing litigated claims and working with legal counsel
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
-
Commitment to providing responsive, professional service to policyholders and agents
Requirements
-
Experience handling Public Entity Professional Liability, Police Professional Liability, and Employment Practices Liability claims required
-
Ability to properly address exposure and adjust files and expenses
-
Ability to analyze claims presented, legal complaints, litigation reports and trend analysis to identify issues
-
Experience in complex coverage analysis and significant large loss evaluations
-
Superior communication, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
-
Excellent presentation skills
-
Moderate proficiency with standard business-related software (including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
-
Sufficient keyboarding proficiency to enter data accurately and efficiently
-
Must have valid state-issued driverโs license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile
Education and Experience
-
College degree required
-
Law degree or MBA preferred
-
8+ Casualty claims handling experience (of those, a minimum of 5 years handling cases of a complex nature with a primary P&C carrier)
-
Experience handling Public Entity Professional Liability, Police Professional Liability, and Employment Practices Liability claims required

Pay Range
USD $124,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
