[Hiring] Legal Counsel @Zapier

Role Description

We’re seeking a hands-on, sharp, and technology-savvy Counsel (based in the United States) to join our legal team to provide practical and clear legal advice on a broad range of commercial and compliance matters, including:

• Vendor and sales contracts
• Data privacy
• Employment law

This position provides a great opportunity to lead efforts to incorporate technology, like automation and AI, in legal operations and practice. You will be a member of our legal team and report to the General Counsel.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree
• Admitted to practice and in good standing with one or more state bars in the US
• 4-8 years of legal experience across commercial, operational, or general corporate matters
• Combined law firm and in-house experience at a SaaS/technology company preferred, but not required

Requirements

• Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills
• Experience at drafting and negotiating a range of inbound and outbound commercial contracts, including technology/cloud agreements, SaaS service agreements, contractor/consulting agreements, events-related agreements, and other business agreements
• Regulatory expert with strong business judgment
• Ability to analyze and assess laws, regulations, and policies across multiple jurisdictions
• Experience with new legal issues and a creative thinker comfortable with change and ambiguity
• Ability to increase efficiency of legal practice using technology such as Zapier, CLM products, and AI tools
• Self-aware with a high EQ and a positive attitude
• Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters simultaneously
• Skilled communicator who can simplify legalese for a diverse workforce

Things You’ll Do

• Lead response to legal tickets from teams across Zapier, including sales, procurement, and HR teams
• Partner with the procurement team to draft, review, and negotiate inbound SaaS, service, and consultant/contractor agreements
• Collaborate with commercial counsel to provide effective legal support to close sales deals
• Work with employment counsel on personnel-related compliance policies and documents
• Advocate for and implement technology to improve the quality and efficiency of the legal team
• Monitor legal developments globally for compliance purposes
• Advocate for solutions that are compliant and meet business goals
• Understand company-wide goals to develop systems, processes, and metrics that support growth
• Other duties as needed to meet the ongoing needs of the legal team
